It's always bitter sweet to attend my mission reunions. Because of my work schedule I've only been able to attend two since I've been back, but I've enjoyed both of them. This time Josh was able to come with me and I was excited that he was finally going to be able to experience the spiritual power house Pres.(now Elder) Pearson is. He is an amazing speaker and with an ability to reach each and everyone of us in a powerful way (with the spirit of course). Last night he talked alot about staying clean, repentance, Faith, and Prayer.
I remember him always talking about prayer and consistantly bringing up the definition of prayer that is in the bible dictionary. Once again he echoed the very same words. I know it was something that I needed to hear. Prayer is work, very rewarding work if we align our will with our Saviors will. One of my favorite parts of the definition is that we are truly just asking for things that God is already willing to grant us, ONLY IF we are aligning our will with the Savior. How remarkable is that? If we are in tune with the Spirit we are in tune with the wishes and blessings that our Savior already has in store for us, but are made condition on us asking for them. Remarkable. I think it was a good reminder on how personal prayer can be so extremely powerful, if and only if we CONSISTANTLY work on it and make our relationship with our Savior stronger each and every day.
Another thing that I found interesting was his portion on Repentance. He emphisized alot on staying clean, not only in the big things, but with the little things as well and if we aren't clean- to get clean. Alot of the time we are so focused on how Repentance is there to FIX a problem, a mistake. But in reality it is there to help us lighten our burdens, to help us become once again clean before God. Repentance is a GOOD thing, not a bad thing.
I am not in any way doing his talk justice, but how grateful I am to hear his testimony once again at this time in my life. I know I am one of the many he came to talk to that night. I heard alot that I needed to hear....little reminders of how it was and how it should be. I will be forever grateful to have had him as my leader and President on my mission, a very important and significant part of my life. I will look forward to the many more reminders he'll have for me in years to come (cause I know I'll need them!).
I am so glad you and Josh were able to go to your mission reunion...sounds like it was a very spiritually boosting event! I LOVE attending things like that! We miss you guys! Thanks again for Taija's bday gift! She is napping in it right now!
